Update #98-36
Brand new! This "update" used to be sent to just Board members
and Chapter
Presidents. About a month ago, we began posting this on the www.ufaa.com web
site. Now, this will be going to over 100 members in addition to the Board
and Chapter Presidents via email. Progress!
To all you new recipients: I have been sending a weekly update to our Board
and our Chapter Presidents for about 18 months now. It's a great way to keep
everyone informed. I also use this "update" to request information from around
the country. So here is my first request. Would each of you visit the web
site, specifically the bulletin board area, and critique the site? What is
good? What needs improvement? Send your reply to me at rgbuch@aol.com.
Also, please note the first group of questions posted. I encourage you to
submit any questions you have or the questions you have been asked by other
agents.
And another request. We also need more email addresses. Check with your
Chapter members and ask them to email our National Office (ufaa@idt.net).
We
will add each of them to future "updates."
Mark O'Donnell's report from the CEAA meeting: "Successful" describes the
meeting. Two days of long but informative sessions. The elections of new
officers shows promise for the future of the organization. CEAA, previously
perceived as stagnant, actually clouded by lack of communication, has been
moving ahead steadily in the legislative areas. Too bad only a few were
informed. Two more days of legislative work and visits to the Senate and House
where we focused on current HR-10 language and trying to establish long term
working relationships with legislators and the PIA. Communications have been
opened and the CEAA is back on track.
Chuck Simpson's report from the CEAA meeting: "The CEAA has a new direction
and new leadership. At our September meeting in Washington, DC, Don Cassell
from NIICA was elected President. Larry Smith from NASFA was elected
Executive VP and Ralph Buchanan was elected Secretary Treasurer. Some topics
from the meeting-The CEAA is seeking consumer groups to help us on legislative
issues. Each association will submit a report monthly which will be condensed
and shared with the other member associations. The associations will work
together in Kansas and Wisconsin to promote the passage of "Just Cause
Termination" legislation. This was my third CEAA meeting and was the most
productive by far."
It's a great time to be a UFAA member. Let's all recruit some new members.
