Chapter President Update #98-30

Paul Baker from Dallas has accepted the position of Director of Media Relations and will start immediately. I have known Paul for many years and know he will do a great job for our Association. Join me in welcoming Paul to our Board.

The Minnesota Chapter is about to launch a re-contact program and call all former members and ask them to rejoin UFAA. That's a great idea! I am led to believe they will also be contacting non-members and do some serious bragging about the benefits of being a UFAA member.

RUMOR: It is reported that Mr. Feinstein is in line to become the CEO of the North American operations for the new Zurich/Farmers companies. This is, in part, due to the amazing profits recorded by the management company in 1997 and the significant increase in surplus for the Exchanges in the same year. What does that mean to us? It appears that Mr. Feinstein is unwilling to touch/adjust/change the Farmers operations for fear that 1997 results will look like a fluke if anything happens and any "negative" changes might jeopardize his future promotion opportunities with Zurich management. If you are not competitive in your area and the rumor is true, expect to stay un-competitive for awhile longer. What to do? How about a letter to Zurich management expressing your views. The Voice is at the publishers right now and should head to the printers tomorrow. Hopefully, it will be out of the printers and to the post office by 8/28. There are some great articles.
