Just because they say it's dead does not necessarily mean it really is. If you have the tenacity to follow through there is always the option to flood the phone and fax lines of the committee that voted down this bill. There have been bans or severe restrictions placed on the use of credit scoring in Washington, Hawaii, Maryland to name just a few.

Proposed Ban on Credit-Based Insurance Scoring Voted Down in Colorado


DENVER 01/30/2003 (BestWire)-Proposed legislation that would have banned credit-based insurance scoring in Colorado was voted down by a state legislative committee and won't proceed further.

The Colorado House Business Affairs and Labor Committee voted to postpone indefinitely consideration of House Bill 1055, which called for prohibiting the use of insurance scoring by insurers in the state.

The wording of the bill declared that insurance scoring was "an unfair and deceptive method" of determining insurance risk and would have made the practice illegal.

The National Association of Independent Insurers applauded the proposal's defeat.
